On May 2, 89 people were arrested at Dartmouth College when protesters tried to organize an anti-Israel occupation of the campus.

Connecticut Public Radio reported that Hanover police officers and state police officers were dispatched to disperse the crowd, which had come to protest in support of the students who had set up their own camp.

Dartmouth Vice Chancellor David F. Kotz wrote in a message to the campus community that school policy “explicitly prohibits the use of tents and camping on the Green and other areas of campus.”

“Students, employees, and organizations found to be violating Dartmouth policies or local laws will be immediately subject to Dartmouth disciplinary procedures, which may include separation and expulsion,” Kotz wrote. “Students and employees found to be violating local laws may also be subject to law enforcement action under Hanover’s ordinances.”
