Manitowoc police officer honored on retirement

After 25 years of service to the City of Manitowoc, Officer Robert Block retired.

On Friday, his family joined his work family and Mayor Justin Nickels to honor his quarter-century of service.

Officer Block joined the department on June 20, 1999 and served on the 3rd shift for the next 17 years. In 2016, he moved to the 1st shift.saint shift, where he remained until his retirement.

The Manitowoc Police Department reports that Officer Block has been involved in many different aspects of the department, including serving on the bicycle patrol from 2003 to 2018, as a field training officer from 2003 to 2019, as an evidence technician from 2005 until his retirement, and as a dedicated member of the PEER support team since 2015.

In 2010, he was also honored as Noon Rotary Officer of the Year.
