18-year-old arrested in connection with fatal pedestrian crash

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Police in Columbia say an 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash.

Madeline Kuester is accused of causing a fatal crash last month on Rosewood Drive that killed a pedestrian.

She is accused of allegedly driving at 88 miles per hour in the 1900 block of Rosewood Drive, where she hit a man.

The victim was later identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as 47-year-old Charlton E. Arda.

Kuester was charged with involuntary manslaughter after she turned herself in to police on Monday, July 1, the Columbia Police Department announced.

She was previously held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, and a judge set her bail at $20,000.
