Police release CCTV footage of four people after man seriously injured in attack

Officers have released images of four people they are seeking to trace as part of their investigation into an assault in Newcastle city centre.

Police received a report that the victim, a man in his 40s, was near Livello on Lower Dean Street when he was approached by four men at around 9.30pm on Saturday, May 18.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “One of the men punched the victim twice in the face, causing a cut to his right eye.

“He was then hit again, leaving him with serious back injuries and significant bruising and swelling to his ribs.

“Since receiving the first report, officers have conducted a number of inquiries.

“Today (Wednesday) officers released images of four men they would like to identify.

“They were in the area at the time of the reported assault and officers believe they may be able to assist with the investigation.”

The men, or anyone with information about them, should contact Northumbria Police by sending a private message on social media, visiting the live chat on the force’s website or completing a crime update form.
