Hamilton County Deputy Executive Suspended After Arrest

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The assistant superintendent of Hamilton County schools has been suspended pending an investigation into an assault unrelated to school.

Richard Leon Rorie is listed as the vice principal of Normal Park Museum Magnet School in Hamilton County. He is the vice principal of the high school’s senior classes, grades 6 through 8.

According to online Montgomery County court records, Rorie was charged with domestic assault. He was arrested in Clarksville on June 11. The incident is said to have occurred on June 10.

Steve Doremus, Hamilton County Schools Communications Officer, provided us with the following statement regarding the incident:

“Mr. Rorie has been suspended from Hamilton County Schools pending an investigation into a matter unrelated to the school.”

Rorie was given a $1,500 bond, documents show. He is due back in court on Sept. 20, 2024.
