Gurusevak and Archana Kaur, residents of Moti Nagar in Lucknow, allegedly spent a staggering amount of Rs 60 lakh in an attempt to obtain Canadian visas through illegal means.

In a surprising incident at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi, a couple’s ambitious plan to migrate to Canada took a dramatic turn, leading to their arrest by the airport authorities. Gurusevak and Archana Kaur, residents of Moti Nagar in Lucknow, allegedly spent a staggering amount of Rs 60 lakh in an attempt to obtain Canadian visas through illegal means.

It all started with 22-year-old Archana, who steadfastly refused to settle in Lucknow under any circumstances. While Gurusevak could tolerate this insistence only in Lucknow, Archana’s determination went further – to avoid settling in any village, town or city in India. Her aspiration was clear and was to settle in Canada, a desire she openly communicated to her husband.

On learning of his wife’s longing, Gurusevak too began to envision a future in Canada. What was once Archana’s only wish had now become their mutual aspiration. However, unable to obtain legal visas, the couple resorted to illegal methods facilitated by Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, who demanded an exorbitant sum of Rs 60 lakh from them in exchange for Canadian visas.

Jaggi had provided them with two passports with Canadian visas, albeit under fake identities. One passport was issued in the name of 67-year-old Harvinder Singh, and the other in the name of Harjit Kaur. Gurusevak, however, was only 24, creating a stark age disparity.

To get around this hurdle, Gurusevak sought the help of a skilled make-up artist who transformed his appearance to resemble that of a 67-year-old man. Despite the elaborate disguise, their plan fell apart when CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) personnel became suspicious during the airport security check.

After a thorough investigation, CISF officers found discrepancies between Gurusevak’s appearance and the details in his passport. While they detained Gurusevak for questioning, Archana tried to escape but was arrested soon after.

After lengthy police questioning, both Gurusevak and Archana were arrested on charges of passport fraud and attempted illegal migration to Canada. Airport authorities expressed astonishment at the audacity of the couple’s plan and the elaborate means used to outwit airport security.
