Search halted after swimmer goes missing in Jordan Lake

APEX, North Carolina — The search was suspended after a swimmer went missing in the area of ​​Marthas Chapel Road and Farrington Road on Jordan Lake.

Randall Rigsbee of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office said the search began after a tip was received Tuesday at approximately 8:47 p.m.

A radio communications recording reported a drowning.

“Hispanic male, possibly 52 years old,” the audio read. “Caller flags down first responders, reporting multiple cars parked on the side of the road, saying he had likely been in the water for over 20 minutes.”

Fire brigade and water rescue units arrived at the scene.
