Three teens arrested in fatal shooting of French Quarter woman

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Three people have been arrested after a woman was shot and killed three times in the French Quarter over the weekend.

At 4:36 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, New Orleans police said they were called to the scene of a shooting at the corner of Royal and St. Peter streets where a woman, identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as 43-year-old Kristie Thibodaux, was found inside a car with a gunshot wound.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation led NOPD homicide detectives to 17-year-old Jerben Albarec, 19-year-old Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio and an unidentified 15-year-old.

Arrest warrants were issued for the suspects. In cooperation with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and the FBI New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force, they were arrested and charged with one count each of second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.

Investigators determined that the fatal shot was the result of an attempted armed robbery.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the NOPD Homicide Division at 504-658-5300.
