A city man is facing charges after he allegedly attacked a mother and her son in Falls Township.

Falls Township police responded Saturday to a report of a robbery in progress at Pennsbury Woods Apartments Building B on New Falls Road. The time of the incident was not specified in court documents.

According to police, upon arrival at the scene, officers detained 43-year-old Anthony Ortiz, who attempted to leave the scene in a car.

Officers questioned the woman and her son, whose age was not given, and noted visible injuries, police said.

The woman suffered bruises to her face and a lump on the back of her head. Her son, who tried to defend her, had scratches and abrasions on his hands and was hit with a chair, police said.

The victims told officers that the attack by Ortiz was the result of a family dispute.

The crime report filed by the police in the district court did not provide many details about the incident.

Ortiz was initially arraigned before District Judge Regina Armitage on Sunday morning on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and endangerment. He was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility on bail of 10 percent of $50,000, which was reduced by a Common Pleas Court judge Tuesday to 10 percent of $10,000.

Ortiz’s arrest came the same day as a stabbing and robbery at the complex, leading to speculation about a connection between the two incidents. However, police have not commented on any connection between them.

The stabbing incident was still under investigation as of Tuesday morning, police said. LevittownNow.com.
