Vinicius Junior suspended for Brazil’s Copa America quarter-final against Uruguay

Vinicius Junior will be suspended for Brazil’s Copa America quarter-final against Uruguay.

The 23-year-old Real Madrid star received his second yellow card of the tournament in the final group stage match against Colombia.

He was penalized for fouling James Rodriguez just seven minutes into the match in Santa Clara, California.

This came after receiving a yellow card in the 83rd minute of the previous match, a 4-1 win over Paraguay, in which he had previously scored two goals.

He will now miss the quarter-final match against Uruguay in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Colombia midfielder Jefferson Lerma will miss his team’s next match against Panama after receiving a yellow card for the second time this tournament.

Vinicius Jr. has 33 appearances for his country and scored five goals.

In the match against Paraguay he scored two goals and in the race for the tournament’s Golden Boot he is second only to Argentine Lautaro Martinez.
