2-year-old Islandia boy drowns in pool at home, Suffolk County police say

A 2-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon after being pulled unconscious from a residential swimming pool in Islandia, Suffolk County police said.

The boy, Chosen Johnson-Pierre, was pulled from the water by a family member at a home on Sunflower Lane at 12:40 p.m., police said.

Family members began CPR until first responders from the Fourth Precinct arrived on the scene, authorities said.

Chosen, who lived at Islandia House, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.

Miriam Rosa-Noriega, Chosen’s great-grandmother, said the child’s mother found the child in the pool.

“He was an angel,” she said through tears.
