Erie Shores Council Scouts Hold 98th Annual Appreciation Dinner

David Barth of Port Clinton received the John C. Haar Lifetime Service Award.

An organization is nothing without its volunteers. The Erie Shores Council of the Boy Scouts of America honored the many contributions of its volunteers at the 98th Annual Scout Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, June 6.

Scouts, leaders and volunteers from across northwest Ohio gathered at The Pinnacle in Maumee for fellowship, dinner and an awards presentation. Master of Ceremonies, motivational speaker Dustin Dale, concluded the program by honoring the 2024 Silver Beaver recipients.

The Silver Beaver Award recognizes those who have provided continuous, selfless and effective service to the community. This year’s recipients are Robert Ampthor (Sylvania), Samantha Andreas (East Toledo), Richard Fuchs (Sylvania) and Nelson Shaffer (South Toledo).

The Council also celebrated the 2024 Lifetime Achievement recipients.

The Gregory A. Hendel Lifetime Service Award was presented to Linda Pocock (Bellevue). The award recognizes those who have served the community through exemplary volunteer service throughout their lives, provided direct support to community activities, and held leadership positions in the business community.

The John C. Haar Lifetime Service Award was presented to David Barth (Port Clinton). The award recognizes individuals who have provided exemplary volunteer service to their community throughout their lives and who have held leadership positions in civic and community organizations.

The Glenda M. Bowman Lifetime Inspirational Leadership Award was presented to Kevin Thomas (Northwood). The award recognizes those who demonstrate inspirational leadership throughout their lives, including serving as a positive role model and mentor, demonstrating courage in the face of adversity, and motivating and helping others reach their full potential.

The Council also announced the Torch of Gold Award to Amy Brinkman (Bowling Green) for her exceptional service and leadership in her work with Scouts with disabilities, and the Venturing Leadership Award to Ben Allen (West Toledo) for his outstanding contributions to Venturing, our older youth program.
