17-year-old boy dies on school trip to beach

A boy has died on a school trip to the beach after an incident at sea, Sussex Police have said.

Emergency services and Her Majesty’s Coastguard were called to West Wittering beach at around 13:00 BST following reports of concern for a boy in the water.

A 17-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital where he later died, police said.

The boy’s relatives have been informed and an investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances.
