EastEnders’ Whitney Dean faces jail over foster care scheme

Whitney Dean has received an unexpected warning in a foster care storyline on EastEnders.

Earlier this week, Whitney confessed to her best friend Lauren Branning that she was not legally Britney Wainwright’s nanny, despite what she told Zack Hudson. Instead, Whitney agreed to pay Britney’s neglectful mother cash under the table to get her away from Milton Keynes.

Thursday’s (March 28) episode showed Lauren pressing Whitney to be honest with Zack about her deal with Britney’s mother. Lauren warned her friend that both Whitney and Zack could face prison time if authorities ever uncovered the illegal payments.

The couple later attended Peter Beale’s 30th birthday celebration, where Lauren learned from Chelsea Fox how happy Whitney was to have her friend back in town.

“When she was younger, she said she couldn’t have gotten through it all without you,” Chelsea told Lauren.

Lauren stepped up to the microphone to give a birthday toast but instead looked at Whitney, reminding her that friends support each other through high and low times.

When Lauren joined Whitney at the table, she warned her friend that she was running out of time to come clean to Britney. But when they got home, Lauren was convinced by how happy Zack and Britney were spending time together.

“We’ll see how he does, but you’re going to tell (Zack) anyway,” Lauren urged.

Whitney admitted, “I know. I will. I promise.”
