Rescue crew responds to Lexington Airport crash involving 84-year-old pilot

Emergency crews responded to calls about a plane crash that occurred Tuesday evening at Lexington International Airport, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. when an 84-year-old man in a single-seater plane tried to take off.

However, the plane never got off the ground but flew out of the hangar, crossed the access road and overturned at the end of the runway.

The man was trapped in the wreckage for some time, and reports from Winston-Salem indicate he may have suffered a head injury.

This is an evolving story.
