Crash suspect arrested after body found in Fort Bend County ditch

NEEDVILLE, Texas (KIAH) – A suspect has been arrested in the Needville case involving a body found in the community. Emilio Cruz Jr., 33, was arrested and charged with failure to render aid and failure to arrest.

Enrique Godinezi’s body was found by construction workers June 11 along FM 361 in north Needville. Godinezi, 61, was last seen May 19. His family reported him missing to Rosenberg police on May 28.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene in the 6900 block of FM 361 near Pine Meadow Lane and found debris from a car and a damaged bicycle.

Lamar CISD later revealed that an officer reported a crash in the same area on May 24. A Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputy spoke with the driver, Cruz, of a stopped vehicle near the scene. Investigators later named him as a person of interest.

Cruz is currently being held in the Fort Bend County Jail on $100,000 bail.
