A teenager has been charged with first-degree murder after Miami-Dade police say he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend’s mother outside her Homestead home last week.

The 16-year-old boy, whose name the Miami Herald is not identifying because of his age, shot 38-year-old Eulalia Gonzalez Martin De Osorio in the head about 7:40 p.m. Thursday as she stood holding her infant daughter on the front porch of her two-family home at NW 11th Street and 6th Avenue, according to an arrest report.

He then fled and got into a white SUV and drove away from the scene, detectives said in their report.

He was arrested Monday morning on an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a minor and taken to the Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Lissette Valdes-Valle, a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade County District Attorney’s Office, said prosecutors are reviewing the case for possible charging of the teen as an adult.

A neighbor who was standing on the porch next to Martin De Osorio told police she saw the boy approach the house and shout, “I’m shooting.” The woman ran into the house, fearing for her life, according to the report. When she came back outside a short time later, she found Martin De Osorio lying on the ground on top of his daughter.

The police reported that the child was unharmed.

Several witnesses, including Martin De Osorio’s older daughter — the teenager’s ex-girlfriend — pointed him out in the photo.

After being arrested and read his rights, the teen told detectives he ordered a rideshare to take him to his girlfriend’s home with plans to kill one of her relatives because he blamed her for the breakdown of their nine-month relationship two months ago, the report said.

Police say the teen sent the girl threatening phone calls, telling her “if she’s not with him, she can’t be with anyone else,” detectives wrote in their report.

The report says that after shooting Martin De Osorio, the boy told police he put the gun in the waistband of his pants and got back into the white SUV that drove him home.

Police said a ride-hailing driver drove him to his home in Princeton.
