The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with 46 Army Regiment arrested a terrorist associated with proscribed terrorist organisation LeT/TRF and recovered incriminating material, arms and ammunition from his possession at Eco Park border crossing in Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on specific information about terrorist movement in the Eco Park Crossing area, the Baramulla Police and Army 46 RR conducted a joint patrol. During the patrol, a suspicious person was spotted approaching the team on foot. When the suspect saw the police and security forces, he tried to escape but was quickly apprehended by the alert patrol team.

Initial questioning identified the suspect as Shakir Ahmad Lone. He was found in possession of one pistol, one magazine, eight pistol rounds and three hand grenades.

The accused also revealed that he was in touch with a Pakistani terrorist agent and was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Baramulla.

A case under sections of UA (P) and Arms Act has been registered at PS Baramulla and investigation is underway.
