French prosecutors demand rape charges against director Benoît Jacquot

French prosecutors have requested that director Benoît Jacquot be charged with rape in connection with accusations made by actresses Isild Le Besco and Julia Roy, French media report.

On Monday, Jacquot was detained by police for questioning over the accusations made by Le Besco and Roy, as well as those made by actress and director Judith Godrèche.

Godrèche was in a relationship with the director in the late 1980s, a relationship she says began when she was just 14 and he was 40.

She now denies the relationship, claiming she was under Jacquot’s control and filed a complaint against him in February for “forcible rape.”

Prosecutors have not yet filed charges in connection with Godrèche’s complaint.

Jacquot denied all accusations.
