Hollyoaks’ Cleo and Abe to take big step in relationship amid abuse history

Cleo McQueen and Abe Fielding are preparing for a big step in their relationship Holly’s Oaks amid their ongoing history of abuse.

In the series, Abe physically and mentally abused his partner Cleo, who is undergoing treatment for bulimia.

Abe exploited Cleo’s eating disorder to humiliate her, forcing her to vomit after he got her drunk and posting photos of the incident online.

In other sinister scenes, he encouraged her to lose weight, made exercise plans for her and commented on her appearance.

As her sense of control began to slip and she felt increasingly isolated, Cleo made a secret appointment for treatment for her eating disorder, which Abe discovered when she failed to meet him for lunch that same day.

Despite this, and an earlier disastrous visit to a mortgage advisor, Cleo and Abe prepare to move in together.

In next week’s episodes, the McQueens worry that Cleo is having a relapse, but she doesn’t tell them when they voice their concerns.

Zoe and Pearl Anderson come over for lunch. Things get awkward between Cleo and her cousin Prince, and her family worries more and more.

The meal reaches a climax when John Paul leans over Cleo and tells her that she had thrown up in the toilet – but it was not Cleo, but Zoe who was suffering from morning sickness.

John Paul’s confrontation leads to a scene in front of Abe that prompts him to propose to Cleo that they move into their own apartment together.

John Paul is angry about Cleo leaving and asks Sally St. Claire to talk the couple out of it, which causes Cleo to distance herself even further from him.

In the park, Cleo confides in Sally about her feelings of failure and admits that intrusive thoughts prompted her to sign up for the session.

Initially, Cleo tells Abe she is not ready to move out, but later changes her mind and agrees to move so they can support each other – but at the same time, she exposes herself to even greater danger from his manipulative hands.
