Karen AND Deon Derrico After months of drama, they finally moved their family into a new home — but the relationship didn’t last.

In the season 5 finale Doubling up with Derricoswhich aired Tuesday, July 2, Deon, 53, and Karen, 44, reached the point where they could move their family into a new home in Las Vegas just before Easter. Throughout the season, fans watched Deon and Karen struggle with the difficulties of not being able to immediately move into their new place.

“We’re really, truly grateful to finally be here, because there was a lot of tension between Karen and I,” Deon said in a confessional during the episode. “(We) finally have it all behind us. It’s priceless.”

Deon and Karen have 14 children: Darian, 18, Derrick, 13, twins Dallas and Denver, 12, quintuplets Deonee, Daician, Daiten, Deniko and Dariz, 10, twins Diez and Dior, 6, and triplets Dawsyn, De’Aren and Dyver, 4. Before the move, the couple met with their children to reminisce about their home, which left the youngest children emotional.

“I think our kids are just starting to understand that once we move into a new house, we’re not going back to the old house,” Deon mused. “And it’s important for our kids to understand that change is a part of life. We have to keep changing.”

In addition to the move, the Derricos also celebrated their oldest daughter, Darian, graduating from high school. In the previous episode, 18-year-old Darian contemplated her next steps after learning she had not been accepted to NYU. Darian ultimately decided to put college on the back burner to focus on her music career, much to the chagrin of her parents.

“Darian is our first,” Karen said in a confessional Tuesday, reflecting on Darian’s future. “Deon and I have to watch closely how we handle her situation because there are 13 others who are coming after her. She’s really that trailblazer for the rest of us.”

Darian informed her parents that she had taken their advice to heart and went to a job interview at a recording studio, which ultimately pleased both Deon and Karen. Later, Darian learned that she had been offered the job. When she told her parents the news, she also dropped the bombshell that she wanted to move out of the Derrico family home because she was on the path to adulthood.

While Deon and Karen were concerned about Darian’s thought process regarding her next steps, they ultimately gave her their blessing. Darian shared the news with her younger siblings that she planned to move out of the house once she settled into her job.

Kris Jenner, Keke Wyatt and other celebrities are in the minority at home. Wyatt welcomed her 11th child, son Ke’zyah, in September 2022, making it her second child with husband Zackariah Darring. “Even if my plans don’t work out the way they should, it means a lot to me that my parents support me and back me up in this matter,” Darian said in a confessional. “I’m really scared to move out, but I know that thanks to what they taught me, I will succeed.”

The episode ends with the Derricos together in their new home, eating pizza on Easter, but the show reveals that Karen and Deon filed for divorce a few months later. Us Weekly confirmed in June that the couple had separated. A judge finalized their divorce, and the parents plan to share custody of their 13 minor children.

“Together we remain united in raising our 14 beautiful children – their well-being is our priority,” said Karen and Deon Us in a joint statement at the time. “We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we move forward for the good of our family.”
