Riverdale girls soccer coach arrested on two counts of rape of minor

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Riverdale High School girls soccer coach Nathan Sweet has been arrested on two counts of rape of a person in a position of authority and sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was arrested yesterday evening, July 1, and is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on $75,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for August 6.

Rutherford County Schools reported:

Rutherford County Schools has been notified of the arrest of Nathan Sweet, the head girls soccer coach and homeroom coach at Riverdale High School. Sweet was hired by the district in February 2014. A review of his personnel file did not reveal any prior disciplinary issues. Sweet has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, which is our standard procedure. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and can be reached with any further questions.
