Fourth suspect arrested in fatal shooting of Zachary High football player

NEW ROADS, La. (WAFB) – New Roads police have made a fourth arrest in the fatal shooting of a Zachary High School football player.

ZayQuin Joseph, 19, of Marksville was arrested and charged with (1) Second Degree Murder. He was booked into the Pointe Coupee Detention Center.

On June 24, police announced the arrests of Michael Anderson, 21, of Baker; Brandon Bell, 22, of Ventress; and Dylan Bell, 19, of Ventress. The three were also charged with second-degree murder.

The shooting occurred in May on Carver Drive in New Roads.

The investigation revealed that the shooting victim, 16-year-old Johnathan Johnson, was found at the scene with gunshot wounds but later died at the hospital.

Johnson’s family confirmed to WAFB that he was a student and football player at Zachary High School.

The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.
