DUNDALK, Md. — A Baltimore County police officer fired at a man who was pulling him from his vehicle after he was stopped for a traffic violation, authorities said.

The shooting occurred in the 3300 block of McShane Way (21222) just before midnight on June 30, 2024, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The officer stopped the vehicle and other officers responded to the call to assist. They say they found a gun between the driver’s legs.

The driver was asked to put his hands on his head, but he refused. He put his car in gear and the officer tried to pull him over, but he managed to accelerate and pull the officer over before he hit an alley.

One of the officers fired a shot, but the suspect was not hit. He fled, was tasered, and arrested.

The driver, Xzavier J. Logan Jr., 25, was charged with attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault, weapons possession and CDS charges. He was sent to the Baltimore County Detention Center, where he is being held.

Two officers and the suspect were taken to hospital. All are expected to be released.

Police say they found two handguns, one with a large-capacity magazine and an automatic trigger switch in the suspect’s vehicle. They also say they found a large amount of cash and drugs in his vehicle.
