Woman dead, firefighter injured in southern city fire, man charged with murder and arson

UPDATE 7-2-2024: Syracuse Police have identified the woman who died in the fire as 34-year-old Shaquoiya Allison of Syracuse.

Police also investigated the fire and charged 58-year-old Anthony Green of Syracuse with a felony in connection with the fire. He was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree arson.


Green was already being held at Onondaga County Justice on unrelated domestic charges. He is now awaiting trial on charges related to the fire, police said.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A woman died in a fire on Syracuse’s south side.

The incident occurred on South Avenue, about a block from Swallow’s.

A firefighter was also injured. We were told he fell into a house. He was taken to hospital but has since been released.

We do not yet know the name of the murdered woman.

The call came in at around 11pm on Sunday. Firefighters were on scene all night.

The house was seriously damaged.
