Tokyo, July 3 (Jiji Press) — Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi on Wednesday reported three more cases of sexual harassment by U.S. soldiers in Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan, including unwanted sexual intercourse, in addition to incidents reported to the press earlier.

Revealing the additional cases at a news conference, a Japanese government spokesman said they occurred in February 2023, August of the same year and January of this year, respectively.

He did not disclose details of the case, saying only that “none (of the U.S. soldiers involved) have been charged.”

“(The incidents) are extremely regrettable,” Hayashi said. “Since these cases have caused serious concern in local communities, Japan will continue to urge the U.S. side to take thorough measures to prevent similar incidents and accidents.”
