Firefighters quickly extinguished a series of fires in Isla Vista early Wednesday morning.

ISLA VISTA, California- Santa Barbara County firefighters quickly extinguished a series of fires that broke out just after midnight in Isla Vista Wednesday morning.

A furniture fire on Abrego Road, two dumpster fires (one at 6711 El Colegio Road and the other at 6750 El Colegio Road), and a spot fire in Girsh Park all occurred within an hour of each other. Details of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s response were described in all four reports.

No injuries were reported in either fire, but the Santa Barbara County Fire Department reported damage to furniture, trash cans, and minor damage to buildings (in the case of the dumpster fire at 6711 El Colegio Road).

It is unclear whether the fires are related. Each is under investigation, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said.

Firefighters at the State Santa Barbara apartment complex on El Colegio Road said the fire was already very hot when they arrived shortly after midnight, said Capt. Castellanos of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. However, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes.

Two 40-foot trash container fires left parts of the containers charred at the scene. One can be seen in the photo below.

After the fire was extinguished, wet and burnt cardboard boxes were left strewn around the parking lot behind the State Santa Barbara apartment complex.

Most of the boxes were marked “University Equipment,” because the Santa Barbara State Apartment complex is for UCSB students who moved out at the end of the semester.

The patio furniture fire occurred in the 6600 block of Abrego Road, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department tweeted Wednesday.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the Girsh Park fire at its peak was 30 by 30 feet in size.
