NDC overturns withdrawal and suspension of parliamentary candidate for Assin Central constituency

NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Assin Central, Mr. Nurein Shaibu Migyimah

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has overturned the decision to withdraw and suspend the parliamentary candidate for Assin Central, Mr Nurein Shaibu Migyimah.

“This decision was taken after meeting with a delegation from the party’s Central Regional Executive, led by the regional chairman, and after listening to the reasons behind the alleged withdrawal of the PC mandate in the Assin Central constituency by the party,” NDC Secretary General Fifi Kwetey said in a press release on July 3, 2024.

According to him, after a thorough investigation of the facts and circumstances surrounding the case, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) determined that the alleged withdrawal of PC for Assin Central was illegal and therefore null and void.

“It was further established that the body that made this unlawful decision did not have the authority, powers and/or powers to do so under the party’s statute.

“More importantly, the reasons for the supposed withdrawal of Assin Central PC turned out to be completely false and devoid of any rational basis.

“Accordingly, the said letter purporting to withdraw the candidacy of Assin Central Parliamentary to the NDC is null and void and should be treated with utmost contempt,” Mr Kwetey stated.
