The last moments of a 17-year-old girl before she went missing were revealed in a shocking surveillance video.

Penelope Wise was wandering the street near the Corner Bar in Rockford, Michigan, around midnight on June 1 when she was captured on video.

The young man, who suffers from mental health issues, wore a pink top and denim shorts and at one point appeared to be looking directly at the camera.

Wise disappeared from her Cedar Springs home on May 31. Surveillance footage released by Kent County detectives shows her walking on Rockford Park Drive, about five miles from her home, late that evening.

In the fifth week of the investigation, Kent County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Muir turns to the local community for help in the search for Wise.

“There are over 750 people in the sheriff’s office, but obviously in Kent County alone we have 680,000 people who could be our eyes and ears in a case like this,” Muir told WZZM13.

“If we look more closely at the local region, beyond Kent, we believe there are more people who may have information than we are able to find in our resources.”

“We still have no information on where Penny is, and we wanted to make sure the community knew we were still searching for her every day,” Muir said.

We are working with local and federal law enforcement and utilizing every technology and equipment we have to locate her, but right now we really need the community’s help.

The sheriff’s deputy said the community can help by checking their personal security cameras for footage of Wise, even if they live outside of Rockford.

“Even if it seems like a small or insignificant clue, or it seems like we already have the information, even the smallest clue could lead to an investigation and where Penny is now,” Muir said.

“We’re really stretching our resources to the limit of what we know,” Muir said. “We think there’s a possibility she could be further away from where we’re currently searching.”

Even though there was a ban on owning phones in the country, Wise’s parents discovered that their daughter had hidden one before her disappearance.

Her parents said Penelope had left home for short periods before, but never for more than a few hours.

“Our top priority is her safety,” said Mishael Wise, Penelope’s mother. “We love her and care about her very much, and we want her to contact someone, anyone, to let us know she’s OK.”

A $1,000 reward will be offered to anyone who knows the woman’s whereabouts.

According to her parents, the teenager, who suffers from mental health issues, has left her home for short periods before, but never for more than a few hours.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Wise’s whereabouts to contact them.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said they do not suspect any foul play at this time and that she left on her own. However, as the days have passed, Muir said he has become increasingly concerned.

“We’re going to work this case as if it were the newest case we’ve received. We’re dedicating resources to it and we’re not going to take them away until we know where Penny is,” Muir said.
