Powell BART Station Murder: Man accused of pushing 74-year-old Corazon Dandan of Daly City in front of oncoming BART train to face trial

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — A 49-year-old homeless man has been charged with murder after he pushed a woman in front of a BART train.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins says a man intentionally killed 74-year-old Corazon Dandan of Daly City by pushing her in front of an oncoming train at the Powell Street BART station Monday night.

He was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a defenceless person and with intentionally killing a woman while he waited.

According to prosecutors, Dandan suffered serious head injuries and fell onto the platform.

Her family told ABC7 News she was returning home after working a night shift as a telephone operator at the Marriott Hotel in Union Square.

She was taken to hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries.

The suspect is scheduled to be questioned on Friday; he will remain in custody.
