Incredible support has been received by a Cork family whose daughter was seriously injured while on holiday in Spain two weeks ago.

Abby O’Sullivan (22) is still in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Torrevieja University Hospital in Alicante after suffering serious injuries in the accident.

She is the daughter of renowned Cork paramedic, Seán O’Sullivan.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds to cover medical, travel and lodging costs while friends and family travel to be with Abby.

By the time this article went to press, the GoFundMe campaign had raised over €70,000.

Abby’s father, Seán, mother, Carole, sister Leah and twin brother, Seán Óg, have come to be with her but due to work constraints they will have to fly back and forth to be with her at all times.

GoFundMe organiser Kevin Cronin said: “It is understandable that the family are facing significant medical, travel and accommodation costs on top of this terrible situation, which is why we are organising this fundraiser in honour of our colleague who has spent almost 30 years helping the people of Cork in need. We would now like to help Seán and his family at this difficult time.”

Reddit user Silent-Survey5364 wrote on Reddit Cork: “If you have called an ambulance in Cork in the last 30 years, there is a good chance that Seán O’Sullivan was there to help you at your moment of need.

“Seani’s daughter was in an accident abroad and is seriously injured, his mates have set up a GoFundMe to support the O’Sullivan family. Can we try to help someone who has helped the people of Cork so much over the years?”
