Fraud investigation leads to arrest of 80-year-old in Door County

NASEWAUPEE, Wis. (WFRV) – An 80-year-old Door County man was arrested June 27 at the conclusion of a lengthy and complicated fraud investigation.

According to the release, officers from the Door County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department executed search warrants at a home in Nasewaupee and a business in Gardner.


As a result, 80-year-old Dale Pautsch was arrested for theft when warrants were served. Pautsch appeared in court on June 28 and remains in custody on $20,000 cash bail.

The following charges were brought against him:

  • Money Laundering – Knowingly receiving/acquiring proceeds (over $10,000 to $100,000)
    • Crime against an elderly or disabled person
  • Theft – Business Environment >$10,000-$100,000
    • Crime against an elderly or disabled person
  • Theft – Business Activity >$100,000
    • Crime against an elderly or disabled person
  • Money Laundering – Knowingly receiving/acquiring proceeds (over $100,000)
    • Crime against an elderly or disabled person

Pautsch will return to Door County District Court on August 18 for an adjourned initial appearance.
