Residents of northern Greece thank Bulgarian firefighters for help

As part of the European Civil Protection Mechanism programme, 240 firefighters from four countries arrived in Greece to assist their Greek colleagues, the Bulgarian Fire Protection Directorate reported. Due to high temperatures and a high risk of fires, the stay of foreign firefighters this year has been extended to two and a half months.

The Bulgarian team is at the airport in Thessaloniki and is taking part in extinguishing the fires in northern Greece. In a television poll, residents and tourists from Halkidiki thanked for the “brotherly Bulgarian help” and recalled that last year Bulgarians also helped in a difficult situation. “The Bulgarians are very good specialists,” added the volunteers who participated in extinguishing together with them.
