Only seven K-Pop groups currently appear on the MelOn Top 100 chart

For the past few years, girl groups and female artists have been leading the way on Korean music charts. While they still tend to outperform their male counterparts in this area, there are now more boy groups ranking on charts like Melon Top 100 daily ranking, which could mean a resurgence in boy group popularity is happening!

Currently, there are seven different K-Pop boy groups that have at least one song charting in the Top 100 (not including the group members’ solo work).

Two groups — N.Flying and digital boy group PLATE — have a song on the chart right now. N.Flying’s song “Into You,” released on June 25, 2024, is currently ranked at #57, and peaked at #54.

PLAVE, meanwhile, has his song “WAY 4 LUV” currently ranked at #92, previously peaking at #60. It was released on February 26, 2024.

Two groups also have two songs currently ranked in the Top 100 daily chart. The first is a rookie boy group TWSTheir highest-charting song being their debut single, “Plot Twist”. The other group with two songs trending in the chart is BTS. Although they haven’t released new music as a group in quite some time due to their military enlistment, the world-famous boy band continues to be listened to by tons of fans on a daily basis. “Dynamite,” released on August 21, 2020, is currently ranked at #74, nearly four years after its release. It had previously peaked at #1. And of course, Queen’s “Spring Day” is also still on the chart after consistently ranking there since its release on February 13, 2017. It peaked at #2 and is currently ranked at #83.

The second is the even older song “You Were Beautiful,” released on February 6, 2017, and currently ranks at #16, peaking at #7. Finally, the more recent song “Welcome to the Show,” released on March 18, 2024, currently ranks at #19, peaking at #19.

It was released on April 29, 2024, and peaked at #15. The previous track, “Super,” is also still on the chart at #85 and has peaked at #5 since its release on April 24, 2023.

Their popular B-side track “Cheers to Youth” has also had an impressive stay on the charts since its release, alongside “Maestro,” which currently sits at #98 with a peak of #49. And finally, the sub-unit’s beloved song “Fighting” from BSS maintains a spot on the chart more than a year after its release on February 6, 2023. Peaking at #4, it is currently ranked #59.

And finally, the beginners group RIIZE currently has the most songs on the MelOn chart, with five in total!
