Shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the parking lot of a U-Stop store in Tecumseh on reports of a robbery.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the victim picked up a man from his broken-down car on U.S. Highway 136 east of Tecumseh and drove him to a U-Stop.

There, the man showed a firearm, demanded the driver surrender the vehicle and cell phone, and drove away. The man abandoned the phone nearby and fled the scene.
