Woman arrested in fatal Henderson crash was driving 108 mph, police say

A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday in Henderson.

On Monday, police arrested Jacqueline Perez-Garcia, who fled the scene on foot before police and medical personnel arrived.

Police said Perez-Garcia was driving “in a careless manner” at 108 mph about 12:17 a.m. when she struck a Toyota Yaris on U.S. Highway 95 near Russell Road. The Toyota was spun and struck again by a Nissan Frontier pickup.

Police said the Toyota overturned, went through a concrete road barrier and went down an embankment. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perez-Garcia, whose age and location were not provided, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on 15 charges, including careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death, driving without a license and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, among other charges.

After an initial court appearance on Tuesday, she is expected to appear in court again on Monday.
