Hunt for ‘armed’ teens after police officer injured

Police are searching for a gang of teenagers armed with large knives and machetes after an officer was injured in an attack in south-east London.

The Metropolitan Police said six men, aged around 17 and 18, were “fighting and chasing each other” while armed with weapons.

The incident happened at around 11pm UK time on Wednesday in the area of ​​Blanchard Close and Belvoir Close in Mottingham, Bromley.

The teenagers were detained, but officers were surrounded by a “large group of hostile individuals,” police said. One man was arrested for assaulting an officer.

In a post on X, Bromley Police said both armed and unarmed officers attended the scene “due to the risk associated with bladed weapons.”

The post said the area was searched for weapons but “nothing was found and the crowd dispersed.”

The police have made a request for information.
