Man arrested on charges of threatening people by shooting at ground

PORTLAND, OR (KOINA) — A man has been arrested on charges of threatening people by firing a gun into the ground in May in North Portland, authorities said.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 8600 block of North Lombard Street at 11:15 p.m. on May 30. Upon arrival, police found three shell casings. Three witnesses told officers that “the suspect intimidated them by firing three shots into the ground.”


Lindell D. Betts was arrested Wednesday after being identified by the Enhanced Community Safety Team as the primary suspect. The Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team served an arrest warrant at the home where he was staying in the 9500 block of North Lombard Street, where officers also seized three firearms.

Betts was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and charged with charges including unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm.
