CYOLA honors Alverno Heights Academy students at annual awards banquet

Catholic Youth Organization-Los Angeles (CYOLA) recently celebrated its annual awards banquet, honoring student-athletes from Los Angeles Catholic schools. Four eighth-grade students from Alverno Heights Academy (Sierra Madre, California) represented the school at the event. Sam Webb and Roman Tekippe were named to the All-CYO flag football team.

Webb and Tekippe were a powerful duo on the Jaguars flag football team last season, which reached the second round of the CYO Open Division playoffs. Clara Tessier capped off a decorated Alverno career with a spot on the All-CYO Girls Volleyball team after leading her Jaguars to a playoff appearance. Isa Cortés was named to the All-CYO Girls Basketball team after leading Alverno to the Silver Division championship this year.

It was also announced that the coveted CYO Female Athlete of the Year award had been given to Cortés. She was a starter for the Alverno playoff volleyball team and the Silver Division CYO Basketball Championship team this year. In individual events, Cortés took home a bronze medal in the long jump at the track and field championships, 4th place at the CYO Fall Golf Tournament and 6th place at the Winter Tournament. Congratulations to our student-athletes!
