Police find blood outside missing Arizona woman’s home, now her husband has been arrested

An Arizona man has been arrested following the disappearance of his wife, whom police suspect of her murder.

Daniel Paduchowski, 58, was arrested Monday after reporting the disappearance of his wife, Kelly Paduchowski, 45.

Court records obtained by Arizona’s Family TV station show that neighbors told investigators they heard a woman screaming around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

A neighbor said she saw a woman lying on her stomach on the ground in her Flagstaff backyard. She was motionless, the person told authorities. Police said the man was on top of his wife, with his hands on her shoulders.

Five minutes later, the neighbor’s husband allegedly saw the woman lying on her side, but the man was gone. The woman then also disappeared from the yard. The neighbor claimed that she later saw her husband spraying the area in the yard where his wife was.

According to police, Daniel Paduchowski said he last saw his wife running around 1:30 p.m., adding that she had been going for a swim at Lake Mary. The couple had been riding bikes together on the Schultz Creek Trail earlier in the day. He reported his wife missing around 7:30 p.m.

Eventually, officers found the woman’s car at the Campbell Mesa Trailhead, where her husband was staying.

When police questioned Daniel, they said they noticed fresh blood outside the couple’s garage door, court documents show. Officers also found blood on the patio, including a bloody footprint, the outlet reported.

Some of the evidence collected at the residence included a gray shirt, pants, and a cap that appeared to belong to the man’s wife. The items were located in a trash can.

At one point, authorities confronted Daniel about his wife’s disappearance and said the situation seemed suspicious, as if he had lied to police. The man asked for a lawyer and would neither confirm nor deny the allegations.

The man also appeared to have injuries to his hands and knees and described his wife in the past tense as a “beautiful woman.” The husband was arrested and jailed on charges of aggravated assault and possession of dangerous drugs. His bail was set at $500,000.
