UFC’s Sean Strickland Releases Full Video of Him Defeating Navy SEAL ‘This SEAL Gained My Respect’

UFC’s Sean Strickland has new respect for at least one Navy SEAL.

Earlier this year, Strickland exploded in anger at the SEALs and challenged any of them to train with him.

“I don’t think a single f…ing Navy SEAL could last a week of training with me, I’m sick of it because you guys think you’re bad… come train with me for a week, I’ll show you what I’m all about, I’ll blow you away.”

Former Navy SEAL turned MMA fighter Mitch Aguiar took up Strickland’s challenge and wanted to have a 25-minute sparring match with the former UFC champion.

Although Aguiar had no illusions that he would beat Strickland, he earned the respect of UFC fighters by refusing to give up.

“Challenge accepted and I lost… Mitch was a solid guy… Actually one of the real ones… Joe Rogan needs a guy like that on his podcast… he’s one of us.”

Aguiar posted on our Instagram account about his sparring with Strickland.

“First of all I appreciate everyone’s support. Secondly I don’t think @stricklandmma’s original comments/post were taken or interpreted the way he intended. Ironically I was one of the few people who knew what he meant and agreed with him lol. There was no animosity between us and I knew what I was getting into being a professional fighter and I was also aware that there were levels and @stricklandmma is top notch and one of the best in the world. I knew it wouldn’t be funny to me lol but I thought at least it would be funny to people. Sean is a patriot and has a ton of respect for service members, we share a ton of the same views and beliefs and I’ve always had a ton of respect for him as a fighter and his mindset. We talked about him coming into the SEAL world and having experienced something that we as SEALs had to endure and he wanted me to give him some BUDSA style beatings. He’s also not delusional and says he’ll probably leave because he’s a wimp when it comes to cold water and everything else Ultimately they’re two different worlds and both require a ton of stamina and skill in their own way. Sean and I know that and I think it’s a cool way to show the reality of it and still be respectful of each other. So everyone just calm down and enjoy and appreciate our suffering for your entertainment

“i didn’t challenge him lol i just showed up and accepted whatever he wanted to do lol also @eric_xcmma and the team couldn’t have been more down to earth and welcoming. At the end of the day the name of the game is fighting and these guys are the best in the world at it and you can’t be ap*ssy if you want to play the game lol Thanks @stricklandmma and @eric_xcmma for the hospitality and it’ll be cool to see some of your guys go through some BUDS type workouts ”
