Hemant Soren returns as Jharkhand Chief Minister for third term after 5 months in jail

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren took oath on Thursday as Jakarta’s prime minister for a third term.

State Governor CP Radhakrishnan presided over the oath-taking ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren, his father and JMM chief Shibu Soren, his mother Rupi llSoren and senior leaders of the JMM-led coalition.

Chamapi Soren, who resigned as prime minister on Wednesday, also attended the ceremony.

Hemant Soren, who spent five months in jail, was released on June 28 after the Jharkhand High Court granted him bail in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam.

Shortly before his arrest by the Law Enforcement Directorate on January 31, he resigned as prime minister.
