by Alex Lloyd Gross

Brian Healion, 33, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 100 days in jail for his participation in the January 6 insurrection. Healion had earlier pleaded guilty to a count of disturbing the peace.

According to authorities, Healion On the morning of January 6, 2021, we met with approximately 100 other Proud Boys members at the Washington Monument and followed Proud Boys leaders—including Ethan Nordean and Philadelphia Proud Boys Chairman Zachary Rehl—on a march toward the Capitol building. Minutes later, as the group passed U.S. Capitol Police officers around 11:28 a.m., members of the group taunted them, shouting “treason” and warning officers, “Don’t make us go against you.”

The group, including Healion, continued to march around the perimeter of the Capitol before arriving at the Peace Circle, at the edge of the Capitol’s restricted area. Upon arriving at the Capitol, Healion covered his face with a black gaiter. Proud Boys leaders then led the crowd, including Healion, in chants and toward the police line.

The crowd, including Healion, pushed through and trampled the bike rack barriers as they advanced toward the Capitol building. Once on the Capitol grounds, Healion helped other rioters push through the police line and saw other rioters tackle officers as they tried to push the barricades away from the police bike racks. Healion then walked to the front of the crowd, facing the police line, and reached out to try to grab a bike. Court documents state that he attempted to grab the bike rack to interfere with officers’ efforts to maintain a police line. Less than a minute later, Healion succeeded when he reached back toward the bike rack, grabbed it, and snatched it from the hands of a Metropolitan Police Department officer.

Healion then followed other Proud Boys members to the building’s Upper West Terrace and eventually entered the building around 2:53 p.m. through the Senate wing door. Once inside, Healion and others entered a U.S. senator’s office and posed for photos. about 20 minutes inside the building, it

left by a broken window.

He was arrested on December 10, 2021 in Upper Darby. It is not known when he will have to report to jail.
