Galway Ladies Want To Beat The Dubs

All-Ireland TG4 Senior Championships – Quarter Finals

Dublin vs Galway; Parnell Park, Saturday 7:30pm – Live on Galway Bay FM and TG4

The Dublin champions continue their quest for the All-Ireland Senior title on Saturday evening (7.30pm) when they play Galway at Parnell Park at home. Having beaten Mayo in the Connacht final, Galway recovered from a first-round group defeat by Cork to beat Laois and book their place in the knockout stages. Galway lost in the quarter-finals last year to Connacht rivals Mayo and will need a great performance to dethrone Brendan Martin Cup holders Dublin. With captain Carla Rowe in excellent form, the Dubs built on their Leinster win, sailing smoothly through the group stages, beating Mayo and Kildare. But Galway have Olivia Divilly in excellent form and with a score of 3-11 so far, she is top of the Senior Championship top scorers’ list, alongside Rowe who has collected 4-8. Galway’s line-up saw four changes to the side that Laois fielded, with goalkeeper Dearbhla Gower replacing Leah O’Halloran, while Aoife Ni Cheallaigh, Charlotte Cooney and Roisin Leonard were recalled, while Caoimhe Cleary, Éahba O’Riordan and Ailish Morrissey were all dropped to the bench. Dublin’s starting line-up shows just one change, with Ellen Gribben replacing Orlagh Nolan for the win in Kildare. When the teams met in the National League at the same ground in February last year, Dublin took five of the last six points to come from behind and snatch a 0-16 to 1-12 victory.
