URGENT: Chaos at Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner’s trial as prosecutors accuse judges of ‘bias’ over shock overturning paedophile’s arrest

JUDGES who overturned Madeleine McCann’s arrest warrant, suspected Christian Brueckner, have been accused of bias by prosecutors.

Three judges at a court in Braunschweig, Germany, issued a sensational ruling this week, finding that the arrest of a paedophile that led to his trial for numerous sex offences was unlawful due to a “lack of credible evidence.”

There is a prospect that the cases will be dismissed and the Brueckner case will be made public within a few months.

The decision sparked outrage among trial witnesses who said they had devoted years of their lives trying to bring the predator to justice.

However, in a court press release seen by Olive Press, prosecutors are seeking the recuse of three judges due to alleged bias.

The document reads: “The public prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig has filed a motion to exclude three professional judges of the 2nd Criminal Division due to suspicions of bias.

“If the Chamber finds the application admissible, the relevant Chamber of Representatives will decide on the issue of bias no later than the next day of the hearing, i.e. 5 August 2024.”

The court hearing continued this morning with further witnesses and experts being questioned.

The judges heard from an ophthalmologist about whether the victims were able to recognise their attackers by their eyes alone.

This came after Irish rape victim Hazel Behan said in 2004 that she was certain her attacker was Christian Bruckner because she recognised his piercing blue eyes.

A number of other witnesses who were close to Behan at the time of the Algarve attack were also due to be questioned this morning.
