Buikwe RDC bug suspended – ChimpReports

Minister of the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, has dismissed Hajat Hawa Namugenyi Ndege, the inept Buikwe County Commissioner, over her heated exchange with Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President, Diana Mutasingwa.

“Following the heated exchange that took place between the RDC, Buikwe and the Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President, which sparked many public debates in which the Office of the President was deeply discredited, I wish to give the following directions in this regard: The RDC of Buikwe, Mrs. Hawa Namugenyi Ndege, should be recalled to headquarters until she is redeployed,” reads Babalanda’s letter to the Secretary of the Office of the President, Yunus Kakande.

Namugenya’s suspension follows an incident on June 13 when she and Mutasingwa clashed over an illegal eviction in Buikwe District, which the latter represents as a member of parliament.

Namugenyi organized a group of security forces, consisting of military and police officers, as well as self-appointed bailiffs, to demolish the mansion belonging to Simon Herbart Alideki.

Earlier, Mr Alideki and his sister Stella Nambi had filed a petition in the High Court challenging what they saw as an “unfair” division of their late father’s estate by their half-siblings.

Despite the court order, Namugenyi continued with the eviction.

“I am in charge of this eviction. Who will stop it?” Namugenyi asked.

Mutasingwa stepped in to stop the action. She approached me directly and demanded to see the eviction notice, as well as the records of the district security committee that authorized the eviction.

During questioning, Namugenyi was unable to produce the eviction order or the minutes of the county security committee meeting regarding the eviction.

“I am calling on Minister (Presidential Milly) Babalanda. What nonsense is this? You people were sent to represent the president but instead you are representing him badly. What makes it difficult for you to wait for the court’s decision on eviction? Who paid you?” Mutasingwa attacked.

Minister Babalanda, in his letter to Kakande, also ordered the preparation of a detailed report on the matter, adding that after the preparation of the detailed report, the President would be consulted on the final decision on the matter.

As an interim measure, Babalanda ordered the Deputy RDC of Buikwe City to take charge of the RDC office.
