Live News: A453 northbound closed due to serious collision

The A453 in Leicestershire is closed northbound between the M1/A42 and the A6 (Kegworth) due to a serious accident.

Emergency services, including Leicestershire Police, are currently at the scene.

Detour routes

Road users are advised to follow the empty square symbol on road signs.

Traffic on A453:

• From the M1 motorway at Finger Farm roundabout 23A take the exit onto the A42/M1 southbound.
• Follow the M1 south to J23.
• Leave the M1 at junction 23, then bypass the junction and head north on the M1 to junction 24.
• Leave the M1 at junction 24 and return to the A453.

Traffic on M1:

• Continue north on the M1 motorway to exit at J24.
• Return to the A453.

Traffic on A42:

• Use the free-flow lanes on the M1 motorway at junction 23a.
• Continue north on the M1 motorway to exit at J24.
• Return to the A453.
