Jailed predator faces new sexual assault and abuse charges | News, Sports, Jobs

A former Youngsville man currently serving a state prison sentence for sexually assaulting a child in 2015 could face new charges of a similar nature.

Jonathan G. Upton, 43, was charged by Youngsville County Police with offenses that allegedly occurred between January 2010 and December 2011 in Youngsville.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, police were notified by the victim and her mother in March. The woman reported that the victim had allegedly been assaulted by Upton between the ages of four and six at Upton’s home on East Main Street in Youngsville.

During questioning, the victim first described Upton’s mental and physical abuse of her.

“She described how (Upton) told (her) to get into the washing machine, close the lid and threatened to turn the washing machine on if she tried to get out.” the statement claims.

Upton allegedly forced her and her younger brother into dog cages and also forced him to walk with her. “charged animal traps placed on her feet.”

“Upton instructed the victim to wrap her younger brother in a leather belt while he was sleeping and strangle him.” the statement claims. “She refused to do it.”

She also told authorities that Upton allegedly made her eat hot dogs, which then made her vomit. “and made her eat vomit.”

The victim then described incidents of sexual assault. “few times” including Upton assaulting her and her brother, as well as forcing her to perform oral sex and view pornography.

The statement said Upton “He threatened to kill her and her brother if she ever told anyone about the abuse” specifically threatening her with martial arts swords and saying that “have your mother watch it too.”

Police charged Upton with a litany of offences in connection with those allegations – sexual assault, six counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, aggravated sexual assault, four counts of aggravated indecent behaviour, three counts of indecent behaviour, four counts of corruption of minors, three counts of endangering children and making terroristic threats.

Upton is currently being held at the state penitentiary in Albion on similar charges for which he was convicted in 2015, according to online court records, which carry a sentence of 120 to 240 months in prison.

He is on the Sexual Assault Register, which means by law Megan is subject to lifetime registration.

A preliminary hearing on the new charges will be held next week.
