PRINCE GEORGE – ICBC receives nearly 10,000 reports of vehicle collisions with wildlife annually. During the summer, there is a high number of collisions with animals. Road Safety at Work is urging drivers in the Fraser-Fort George region to be on alert for animals on highways.

A male moose can weigh up to 1,500 lbs. The force of a collision with such a large animal can cause serious injuries.

“We know that somewhere around 870 people are injured every year. Four people die in collisions with wildlife, and two out of those four, on average, are in the northern half of the province. We know that 6100 animals are killed. ”
