Malnourished coyote pup rescued by San Mateo firefighters

(KRON) — Firefighters rescued a coyote pup that was clearly struggling in San Mateo County Thursday morning, Cal Fire reported.

San Mateo County firefighters at Station 17 in San Mateo had previously seen the puppy running with its mother, Cal Fire said, but Thursday morning the mother was nowhere to be seen. Firefighters noticed the puppy was disoriented and stumbling.

After giving the young dog chicken and water, firefighters were called in by the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA to help rescue him. According to Peninsula Humane, the puppy was malnourished and dehydrated.

“We hope for a speedy recovery for this little animal!” Cal Fire wrote on X“Thank you firefighters and heroes of the humanitarian society!!!”
